So, how to deal with relationships according to Sadhguru?

1. SHARING HAPPINESS IS A FOUNDATION TO ANY SUCCESSFUL RELATIONSHIP

To master this, you need to understand and learn how to be happy in life yourself, without depending on others and without squeezing the happiness out of your partner, your own happiness.

You are either happy in life or you are not. Your partner is not a key to this. If you depend on your partner for your own happiness, eventually there will be nothing left but a sense of betrayal and bitterness.

When you are focused on being happy yourself AND SHARING this happiness that you won’t have to worry about day-to-day little issues that happen to people in a relationship.

If someone loves you because you are theirs, it is about you being their property. If someone loves you for who you are, you are fortunate.

2. YOUR IDEAL HALF DOES NOT EXIST

If you still continue to think that it does, you are destined for disappointment. What you need to figure out in this case is “Are you yourself an ideal half for someone?”

If you continue picking and choosing, looking for must-haves in people and rejecting those who are missing something from your “list” then prepare for a life of disappointments and regrets.

Instead, “If you are truly beautiful inside, everything will be going right in all areas of your life.”

If you are constantly working on yourself, improving day by day, any person would want to be around you.

Only then you will truly have a choice. But work on yourself first, instead of trying to work on others to fit you and your lifestyle.

A soul does not need a half, it is whole on its own and no one has created a partner specifically to fit you.

What most people are calling marriage right now is just a whole bundle of expectations about how the other person should make a heaven for you. If you're trying to extract happiness out of somebody, you will be disappointed.

3. HAVING CHILDREN IS NOT THE KEY TO A FUlFILLED LIFE

Your child did not ask for you to birth them.

You chose to have a family and a child by yourself.

Children come to the world through you, but this does not make them your property.

If you want to have a child to save your relationship or fulfill your life, not only you but also your child will be unhappy.

Remember, a child needs a companion, a teacher but not a boss. The only advantage you have to your child is that you came to this world earlier.

If you allow your child to grow, feeling his own consciousness and ability to make decisions, you will see that he will come seeking your help and advice on his own because he will soon realize that his wisdom is not enough yet.

A child needs a friend. Be sincere with him, answering all questions, even if some are tricky or make you feel uncomfortable. And, most importantly, don’t be afraid to say “I don’t know”.

Children only come through you, you don’t create them. It is a privilege that they have happened through you. Enjoy the privilege; don’t think of it as an authority. Just enjoy the privilege that another life chose to come through you into this world
